Damien Melchiori is a multidisciplinary artist and writer working across sound, text and image. His work explores sensory thresholds, material abstraction and the poetic potential of disorientation. He has exhibited at institutions including the NGV and ACMI and presented works and projects in Australia, Europe and Japan.
Melchiori holds an MFA from the VCA and has undertaken residencies internationally including Berlin (Phasmid Studios). He is one half of Empty Gods, a postconceptual sound-based project with Sean Lowry. Together, they have performed and presented research internationally and produced music for commercial release.
His visual art straddles the edges of object, image, installation and performance, and has been supported by both independent platforms and institutional networks. His writing appears in artist books, journals, and collections including the State Library of Victoria.
